Medics from 208 Field Hospital honoured

About 50 medics from 208 (Liverpool) Territorial Army Field Hospital have each received an Operation Herrick medal in recognition of the work they did during their recent deployment at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, the first time the unit had been deployed on operations since WW2. During their tour they treated injured UK military personnel, coalition soldiers, Afghan national security forces and local civilians. In civilian life most of the volunteers can be found working in hospitals and GP surgeries across the North West and have to juggle the demands of their regular jobs with those of the Armed Forces. That's commitment for you!
One of the team, Diane King, said: “We all feel a great sense of achievement. I joined years ago because I wanted to do something worthwhile with my life, and I definitely feel I have done that.”
