Skillforce: capitalising on military leadership skills

Recognising the personal and motivational skills that are acquired during military service, the educational charity Skillforce employs ex-servicemen as instructors and tutors in the delivery of their varied courses.

To quote from the Skillforce website........
  • Our instructors use many of the skills from their military careers to provide focus and direction within our programmes and to create an environment in which people can learn.
  • Our courses draw together vocational qualifications, community work and life skills in a classroom and outdoor activities based framework. Instruction & Mentoring is provided mainly by ex-armed forces personnel, who develop a close working relationship with individuals and instill a culture of respect and mutual support.
  • Our programmes are specifically designed to engage young people through a different approach to learning. Our aim is to give young people the knowledge, skills and attitude that will help them with life after leaving school. We seek to maximise opportunities in training, employment and future life chances.
