Phil Packer: Marathon Man

A year ago Major Phil Packer of the Royal Military Police lost the use of his legs in a rocket attack on the British base in Basra. He was initially told by his doctors that he wouldn't walk again.

One year on and today he completed the London Marathon: all 26 miles and 385 yards, or as he saw it, 52400 steps.

What an achievement - sheer courage, guts and determination!

He did it to raise money for Help for Heroes and he did it, as he said, for all his comrades who have lost their lives or suffered disabling injuries serving in the Forces around the world.

He has already raised £725,000 for Help for Heroes! To help Phil reach his target of £1million, visit his website at www.philpacker.com.

Well done, Phil! The biggest Marathon winner!
