At the recent ITV Britain's Best 20 08 Awards ceremony Britain's Armed Forces were presented with the Global Recognition Award, a special prize sponsored by The Sun newspaper. The Armed Forces were represented on stage by 50 servicemen and women from all three services but it was badly-burned Afghan war hero Lance Corporal Martyn Compton from the Household Cavalry who shook hands with the Prime Minister and received the award on the Services' behalf.
