Council Tax rebate for all overseas troops

The Government has announced that all Armed Forces personnel serving overseas will be entitled to a 25% rebate on their Council Tax bills. Up until now the rebate only applied to those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and this has long been considered devisive. The change will mean that about 13,000 service personnel will be better off by at least £140 per year: not a great deal but, hey, it is something.
