Extra Chinooks for the front line in 2009

The MoD has announced that it has finally decided to spend £90million on converting 8 Chinook helicopters to support operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heavy lifting capacity of the Chinooks will add significantly to the forward capability of troops in the front line. Unfortunately the first of these "vital" helicopters will not be operational until 2009.
