For a long time the shortage of serviceable helicopters has been one of the major concerns for British Forces in Afghanistan. Now it seems that a bad situation is being made worse by the lack of sufficient pilots to fly the helicopters they have got.The reported 10% shortfall not only means that existing pilots are being over-stretched - deployed for longer and having to fly more missions - it may also soon mean that operations are compromised and the delivery of supplies delayed.
