We grieve as the family, loved ones and colleagues grieve. They will always be in our thoughts and prayers and we offer our heartfelt condolences at this very sad time."

- Lance Corporal Kieron Hill from 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Worcesters and Foresters) was killed following an explosion in Afghanistan on Thursday 28 May 2009.
- Lance Corporal Robert Martin Richards from Armoured Support Group Royal Marines died in Selly Oak Hospital on Wednesday 27 May 2009, from wounds sustained in Helmand five days previously.
- Sapper Jordan Rossi of 25 Field Squadron, 38 Engineer Regiment, was killed following an explosion in Afghanistan on Saturday 23 May 2009.
- Fusilier Petero "Pat" Suesue, of the 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was killed by an enemy gunshot in Afghanistan on Friday 22 May 2009.
