A terrible week in Afghanistan

A soldier from the Light Dragoons; a soldier from the Parachute Regiment - two more soldiers have today laid down their lives for their country.
A spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel Nick Richardson said: "We feel a numbness at the loss of these brave and noble soldiers who laid down their lives for their country and the people of Afghanistan. We grieve as the family, loved ones and colleagues grieve. They will always be in our thoughts and prayers and we offer our heartfelt condolences at this very sad time."

This week in Afghanistan, these soldiers also laid down their lives for us:....
  • Lance Corporal Kieron Hill from 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Worcesters and Foresters) was killed following an explosion in Afghanistan on Thursday 28 May 2009.
  • Lance Corporal Robert Martin Richards from Armoured Support Group Royal Marines died in Selly Oak Hospital on Wednesday 27 May 2009, from wounds sustained in Helmand five days previously.
  • Sapper Jordan Rossi of 25 Field Squadron, 38 Engineer Regiment, was killed following an explosion in Afghanistan on Saturday 23 May 2009.
  • Fusilier Petero "Pat" Suesue, of the 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was killed by an enemy gunshot in Afghanistan on Friday 22 May 2009.
