Basildon welcomes the Royal Anglians

A squad of squaddies from the Royal Anglian Regiment formed the centrepiece of today's St Georges Day parade in Basildon. Waving England flags, hundreds of patriotic townspeople cheered the guys as they marched through the town centre to a short welcoming ceremony in the Town Square.

Basildon Council has recently given £5,000 to the Regiment, towards the construction of a memorial to honour their war dead at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford.
