This year's GEMS awards were presented last Friday at a ceremony in the Imperial War Museum. The awards are to MoD staff who have come up with innovative ideas which improve efficiency and save money. The awards scheme was started in 1996 and has resulted in average annual savings of £10million; this year they have led to MoD budget savings in excess of £16million.
My two suggestions - one for a wrist chain to secure laptops and the other for the adoption of Prince2 Project Management methodology - though shortlisted, regrettably failed to win an award.
