Matt Croucher awarded hero's medal

Lance Corporal Matt Croucher of 40 Commando Royal Marines has been awarded the George Cross for selflessly risking his life to save those of his comrades.
Realising he had set off a booby trap, he threw himself on his back over the grenade and waited the five seconds for it to explode. Although thrown into the air by the explosion, the kit in his backpack saved him from serious injury.
He has said that he put himself on the line because he felt guilty for setting off the device, but to everybody else what he did was an act of pure heroism rightly recognised by the Nation by the awarding of the George Cross.

Well done, Matt!
