Sheffield welcomes home Chestnut Troop, Royal Horse Artillery

The people of Sheffield turned out in the rain last Friday to welcome home members of Chestnut Troop, 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery. The troop paraded from Sheffield Cathedral to the Peace Gardens where soldiers were presented with medals by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield. "The Chestnut Troop has answered the call of duty and done vital work for our country in Iraq. This is our opportunity to say, 'Welcome back', and recognise their service to Queen and country."
Bombardier Foster said: "It's nice to know the people appreciate what we are doing. When we got that first round of applause it was quite heart-warming."
During their recent deployment in Iraq Chestnut Troop operated the gun line defending the UK base at Basra Airport and also worked with Iraqi security forces to help improve the safety and living conditions of local people.
Well done, Chestnut Troop!
