Despite
heavy rain 2,000 members of the public lined the streets of Maidstone to welcome home and applaud 330 servicemen and women of 36 Engineer Regiment who have recently completed a six-month tour of duty in the Helmand Province, a tour in which two of their comrades were killed. Before the parade the soldiers received their Operational Service Medals. The parade was followed by a thanksgiving and remembrance service, and the regiment later attended a reception for themselves and their families.
