A world class field hospital came into operation today at Camp Bastion in Helmand. The new solid build Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) replaces the tented field hospital which has been in use since 2003 and will significantly increase the capabilities of the British military medical team who will work in it.
The high-tech kit now available includes a CT scanner for the Radiography Department, two mobile digital DRAGON X-Ray machines and blood processing equipment that speeds trauma recovery. All this adds up to a state-of-the-art field hospital in which the 243 highly-skilled Field Hospital (TA Volunteers) staff will be able to respond effectively to the complex of injuries they need to treat.

Armed Forces Minister Bob Ainsworth said: "Our Armed Forces are engaged in a dangerous mission here and we owe it to them to provide them with the confidence that if they are injured, they will receive the very best of care from the moment they are picked up in the field, through their immediate treatment and any subsequent rehabilitation."
The guys deserve the best and it seems they're going to get it.
