Project SLAM: refurbishment at Alexander Barracks, Pirbright

The tri-service Project SLAM (Single Living Accommodation Modernisation) was announced in 2001 with a £1billion budget and an aim "To upgrade progressively the worst Single Living Accommodation to 'Grade 1' physical condition by 2013, to provide servicemen and women with the quality of living accommodation they deserve". 10,000 new en-suite bedspaces were planned and so far 4,600 have been completed.

A further 147 new en-suite bedspaces are to be handed over to the Army at Alexander Barracks, Pirbright tomorrow.
