Injured soldiers & veterans to get fast track medical care

Let's hope the recent announcement of plans to improve the health care provided to injured troops and veterans is true and not just another smokescreen.

Those injured in conflicts will go to the front of hospital waiting lists, get priority access to specialist care and qualify for free prescriptions.

Six special units will be set up to give advice and counselling to those suffering mental health problems.

These changes will apply retrospectively and bring improved medical care to almost 5 million ex-service personnel.

It’s been a long time coming and the Government has needed a lot of "encouragement" to get round to start honouring their side of the Covenant. Let's also hope that this is the start of a sustained drive to improve the service conditions and welfare of the Armed Forces.
